Things that We Have Forgotten & Take For Granted

by | Mar 20, 2020

As Citizens of the most powerful nation in the world, we tend to take for granted some of the most important aspects of our country. To quote Spider-man, one of my favorite comic book heroes growing up, “With great power comes great responsibility”. Not only to ourselves individually, but to our family, friends, community and even the world.

Unfortunately in America we have forgotten about all of the things that made us great in the first place. We have forgotten that it is our Citizenship which has always been our common thread that connects us. We forgot that we were never a nation bound by race or religion, but instead bound by a higher calling to be united by the shared values of freedom, liberty, and equality. That is truly what makes us great.

We have forgotten the fact that throughout our history, America has welcomed newcomers from all over the world. That it was through the arrival of these immigrants and their desire to become Citizens that led to many great contributions. These immigrants helped shape and define the country we know today.

Today, more than 200 years after our founding, we still need to understand that it is our Citizens, that are the most important part of our democracy. As the PartiExit movement moves forward, we will begin to work hard to educate, inform, and engage our fellow American Citizens. We will reclaim and own these rights and responsibilities that all citizens should exercise, respect, and use. For only through the ownership of these rights and responsibilities will we as one nation, begin to ensure that America remains a free and prosperous nation.
